What is noun?

The name of any person, place or thing is called noun

Types of Noun

On the basis of physical presence

There are two types of noun 

1) Concrate noun -

  • A concrate noun is refers to tanginle things 
  • वे वस्तुएँ जो मूर्त रूप मे पाई जाती है या जिन्हे देखा एवं छुआ जा सकता है उन्हे concrate noun मे शामिल किया जाता है।
  • A concrete noun is a person, place, or thing that has a physical presence that a person can experience with their five senses: sight, scent, taste, touch, or hearing.
  • For example - pen, pencil, computer, cow, etc

2) Abstract noun 

  • An Abstract noun is refers to the intangible things
  • A abstract noun is a person, place, or thing that has not a physical presence that a person can not experience with their five senses: sight, scent, taste, touch, or hearing.
  • वे वस्तुएँ जो अमूर्त रूप मे पाई जाती है या जिन्हे देखा एवं छुआ नहीं जा सकता है उन्हे abstract noun मे शामिल किया जाता है। 
  • For example - love, hate, anger, joy

On the basis of properties 

There are five types of noun 

1) Common noun 

  • It refers to the caste or class of a person, place or thing.
  • वह नाम जिससे किसी व्यक्ति, वस्तु या स्थान की जाति या वर्ग का बोध हो उसे common noun कहा जाता है।
  • A common noun is the name for a person, place, or things class or cast
  • For example - Student, teacher, man, woman, boy, girl, child, cow, elephant, dog, city, country, river, book, pen, house, fan

2) proper noun

  • It refers to the proper name of the person, place or thing
  • किसी व्यक्ति, वस्तु या स्थान के सही नाम का बोध proper noun कहलाता है।
  • For example - Harish, Jaipur, Japan, Ganga, Ramayan
  • First word of proper noun must be capital 

3) Collective noun 

  • It refers to the group of person, place or things.
  • किसी व्यक्ति वस्तु या स्थान के समूह का बोध collective noun कहलाता है।
  • For example - Class, bench, army, comittee, parliament, cattle, bunch, bundle

4) Material noun

  • It refers to the name of raw material or the product that consume 
  • कच्चा पदार्थ या ऐसा पदार्थ जो उपयोग करने पर पूर्ण रूप से समाप्त हो जाता है उसे material noun कहा जाता है।
  • For example - Gold, silver, cotton, paper glass, sugar, salt, rice, milk, water, petrol, diesel, ink

5) Abstract noun

  • An Abstract noun is refers to the intangible things
  • A abstract noun is a person, place, or thing that has not a physical presence that a person can not experience with their five senses: sight, scent, taste, touch, or hearing.
  • वे वस्तुएँ जो अमूर्त रूप मे पाई जाती है या जिन्हे देखा एवं छुआ नहीं जा सकता है उन्हे abstract noun मे शामिल किया जाता है। 
For example
  • Feeling- love, hate, anger, joy, happyness, pain
  • Qualities - honesty, wisdom, bravery, kindness, beauty
  • Ideas/concepts- time, truth
  • States/condition अवस्था - Freedom, childhood, unemployment, youth, poverty, confusion 

On the basis of numbers 

There are two types of noun 

Countable noun 

  • The name of a person, place or things that we can count is called countable noun
  • Chair, bag, bed, star, liters
  • we can make the plural form of countable noun 
  • example - chair = chairs

Uncountable noun 

  • The name of a person, place or things that we cannot count is called uncountable noun
  • Water, milk, money
  • we cannot make the plural form uncountable noun 
  • example - water always remain water we cannot make it waters
